FEAST OF ST. VINCENT
This is the traditional observance of the beginning of the winegrowing year in the town vineyard on Martin Breg. The symbolic pruning of the vines marks the beginning of vineyard work, as well as the baptism with old wine and the hanging of sausages as a symbol of abundance and fertility.

SELECTION OF THE LOVELIEST YARD
The campaign begins each year to mark Earth Day, and in it residents of Dugo Selo are encouraged to beautify the space around their homes and thus recall the importance of caring for the environment.

VILLAGEFEST
Organized by the SOHO bar, Villagefest offers visitors good music and good fun outdoors, in the very center of the city.

FISHING COMPETITION AND FISH PAPRIKASH CONTEST
The traditional fishing competition and the contest to see who can make the best fish paprikash.

SUMMERTIME MARTINMAS
An event tied to the installation of the first step of St. Martin in Croatia, at the old church on Martin Breg, whereby Dugo Selo was the first in Croatia to be incorporated into the St. Martin’s Way culture and history route.

Every year on 4 July, the winegrowers of the Terra Sancti Martini Viticulture-Viniculture Association cook vineyard goulash and confer awards and honours to the best vintners in the wider Dugo Selo area. The event is enriched with performances by the Preporod Culture and Arts Association.

“OLD FOODS” FROM DUGO SELO
A traditional culinary event in which we nurture the heritage and culinary wealth of our region.

Visitors can sample numerous traditional foods, and the best roast goose is selected. Old Foods from Dugo Selo is ordinarily held on the third weekend in September.

BIKE RACE
September is also the month for the promotion of bicycle safety and healthy living. Active and recreational cyclists of all ages are invited to the Dugo Selo Bike Race.

CHILDREN’S WEEK
Dugo Selo, a child friendly town, dedicates the first week in October to its youngest citizens. During it, various venues in town offer numerous free educational and entertaining workshops and attractions aimed at children.

MARTIN HALF MARATHON
The Martin Half Marathon has traditionally been organized by AK Dugo Selo for more than a decade on the eve of City Day. The half-marathoners are assigned a route of 21.1 km around the city and Martin breg, a 5 km race awaits citizens, and races for children are also organized in several categories.
MARTINMAS AND DUGO SELO DAY

Martinmas is the central tourism event in Dugo Selo: the must is christened into early wine, and locals and visitors enjoy traditional revelry accompanied by the Preporod Culture and Arts Association, which has functioned for over a century, as well as other entertainment and culinary attractions. The most popular Martinmas dishes are roast goose with mlinci (flatbread soaked in drippings) and traditional deserts such as gibanica (a multi-layered cheese pastry) and strudel.
The Martinmas days in Dugo Selo include the traditional christening of the must, the International Folk Arts Review and the St. Martin Procession through the town.
The town’s day, 11 November, is observed with a ceremonial meeting of the Town Council with a musical program and conferral of annual awards and honours, closing with a concert for all Dugo Selo residents and their guests.
